The L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Bright Reveal Cleanser Has Changed The Way I Feel About Washing My Face

Washing my face in the morning is always a game of figuring out what my combination skin needs on any given day. I opt for a salicylic acid wash if I’m breaking out or something more gentle if my skin is clear. Because of this constant switching, I’ve never really considered addressing dullness and discoloration with my morning cleanse — it just didn’t seem possible. But when L’Oréal Paris gifted me its new Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser MSRP $5.99, I was intrigued and curious to see if it could visibly improve my skin. Here’s what happened when I tried it.

The first thing I noticed about this cleanser upon pumping a quarter-size amount into my hand is that it has the consistency of a scrub. I often stay away from scrubs because I find that they can irritate my skin, but I was less intimidated by this formula because the tiny scrubbing pearls were suspended in a smooth-feeling gel. After looking at the package, I learned that the formula contains glycolic acid that works to exfoliate, brighten and reveal more radiant skin. The micro-pearls act as a physical exfoliator, while the glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliator. My favorite part about it, though, is that the jelly-like formula feels surprisingly velvety on the skin, even with all that exfoliation.

I wet the product and began scrubbing it onto my face gently — on my cheeks, around my temples, along my jawline and on places where I have discoloration, like around the tip of my nose. The scrub felt gentle and refreshing and smelled subtle and clean, which I appreciated. I also noticed that when it was time to rinse, the product easily came off and didn’t leave behind any residue.

After using the scrub, my skin immediately looked brighter and more even. I noticed that the dullness I’d woken up with had dissipated, and instead, I looked glowy and revitalized. I followed up my morning cleanse with a moisturizer and sunscreen before applying my makeup. The gentle exfoliation made my makeup glide on smoothly.

Although this scrub is recommended for daily use, I’m opting to use it every few days so that I can still mix my other cleansers into my regimen. But one thing’s for sure, it’s certainly become part of my weekly mix!
